Key Takeaway: Tools to help communicate with students so they feel empowered, not frustrated.

Does the manner in which you interact with and respond to students serve to make them stronger? Have you ever come out of an interaction and regretted how you handled it? Do you ever feel overwhelmed and like you aren’t able to respond effectively to student behavior? In this presentation, we will walk through communication scripts and flowcharts for healthy and effective adult-student interactions. In extra time, we will role play through audience provided situations.

About the Presenters:

Adrienne is a 26 year FRC veteran from teams 191, 229, and 148. A 13 year veteran educator, who currently works a Sphero helping teachers integrate Sphero robots into districts and Classrooms. Presentation experience includes: ACTE, ISTE, Solidworks Worlds, TCEA, FETC, numerous other regional conferences.

Allison is a 23 year FRC veteran from teams 226 and 3538. She runs 50+ FTC teams as part of a robotics pipeline that starts in 2nd grade. I do sessions for a living at my job. Presentation experience includes: multiple mentor conference meetings including a panel at the FIRST Mentor Conference.
