Simulation Driven Design: The Secret to Lightweight, Durable Robots.

Presentation, Scaling a Team (Advanced), Sustaining a Team (Intermediate), Technical

Presenter: Erik W. Larson, Altair

Help your team build lighter, stronger, and more durable robots, by leveraging one of the most user-friendly simulation tools available: Altair Inspire. In this workshop, we’ll show you how to use it with your students to improve and expedite their robot development by streamlining the design process and achieving optimal results in minimal time. We’ll discuss using the software to perform multi-physics simulations including structural analysis, light weighting optimization, multibody motion simulation, and even combining all three to make your robots stronger and faster. Join us and we’ll give you the tools to get started with simulation-driven design as well as use-case examples from other teams who are already using Inspire to win.

About Erik

Erik Larson is the Senior Manager for Global Academic Training at Altair. After studying Mechanical Engineering at Michigan Technological University, he spent 23 years pursuing his passion for design and simulation. For the last 10 years he has turned that passion to teaching the next generation of aspiring engineers how to use simulation to take engineering into the future. Erik’s engaging teaching style draws students in and shows them not only how to perform simulations but also how to embrace the excitement of simulation driven design.
