Driving Success: The Power of Escudería PrepaTec
Presenter: Francisco Guerra (Paco War), PrepaTec
In this workshop I’ll share strategies for managing 31 FRC and 25 FTC teams at PrepaTec. Our approach, branded as “Escudería PrepaTec,” unifies these teams under a common marketing strategy. Despite the diverse realities faced by each team, I’ve developed specialized strategies to navigate these challenges successfully. From coaching training, regional planning, to traveling as a group, these are some of the strategies I use to keep all the teams aligned.
About Francisco
I graduated with a degree in Information and Communication Technologies Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey in 2009. Following graduation, I founded an advertising agency but later transitioned my focus to education.
In 2014, I began teaching Technology and Programming at PrepaTec. Concurrently, I became involved with the robotics team Botbusters 4635, eventually assuming the role of Head Coach in 2015.
By 2015, I became the Head Coach of the Botbusters 4635 at PrepaTec. The following year marked a series of achievements, starting with winning the prestigious NOVUS award at Tecnológico de Monterrey, which provided funding for a transformative student-focused project—I chose to enhance the Botbusters workshop. Additionally, I was honored with the Woodie Flowers Award during my first regional competition as Head Coach.
In 2017, our team’s success at the Arkansas regional propelled us to our debut appearance at the world championships—an achievement we’ve maintained ever since.Building on these successes, I guided the team to its first Regional Winner title in 2018, launching a streak of continued victories. By 2022, after achieving three regional victories that year, I concluded my tenure as Head Coach of Botbusters 4635.
During this pivotal year, I was offered a newly established role at PrepaTec as the National Robotics Leader. This position was created to oversee the development and competitiveness of the 29 PrepaTec robotics teams (now 31), aligning with my passion for cultivating excellence in robotics education.
During the pandemic, I established Rockit Robotics, a robotics school catering to children aged 4 to 17, with an average monthly attendance of around 80 children.
